I'm a happier person since meeting Dr. Ward! I have had extreme lower back pain for a couple of years and have done everything to try to alleviate it. I was told that it was everything from a groin muscle pull to my lower back starting to curve the wrong direction... but at my first visit to Dr. Ward she knew right away what the problem was and put a plan into action to help me. I've been going to Dr. Ward for about 6 weeks now and have gone from a constant pain at a level 10 to rare pain at a level ... more

Nutritional Testing

Hormones play a vital part in maintaining control and balance over biochemical messengers as they move through the body. Hair analysis and Saliva testing are effective methods to assess a man or woman's current hormone levels.

Hair Analysis

The HTMA is an invaluable screening tool which allows a correct program of diet and supplementation to be designed for each individual's specific needs. Hair analysis tests intracellular minerals which are an indication of how effectively the hormones are delivering their messages at the cellular level (an indication of receptor sensitivity and cellular responsiveness).

A hair analysis is a screening test used to evaluate levels of overall health, health trends, and of how a patient is managing lifestyle stressors. Specifically a hair analysis can tell us about:

  • metabolic rate
  • stage of stress
  • immune function
  • adrenal activity
  • thyroid activity
  • hormonal imbalances
  • cardiovascular risk
  • digestive health
  • carbohydrate/sugar handling
  • protein intake and usage

Saliva Testing

Saliva Hormone Testing is an accurate and simple way for the ordinary man or women to assess their current levels of steroid hormones (e.g. estradiol, progesterone, testosterone) - in their body without having to make an expensive visit to a doctor's office.

The ASI is a panel of 6 tests analyzed from 4 saliva samples you submit after receiving the testing kit and explanation of the process from one of our chiropractors. This test does the following in order to help our practitioners to better diagnose and treat your health concerns:

  • Measures cortisol from all 4 samples to evaluate stress response and adrenal function
  • Measures insulin from 2 samples to investigate blood sugar control and assess potential or real insulin resistance
  • Measures DHEA (sex hormone precursor) a natural steroid prohormone produced from cholesterol by the adrenal glands, the gonads, adipose tissue, brain and in the skin, as a marker of adrenal gland ability and stress adaptation
  • Measures secretory IgA (immunoglobulin) to evaluate the toll of cortisol on immunity
  • Measures 17-OH Progesterone to determine adrenal reserve (a direct test of the ability to handle stress)
  • Measures Gluten Antibodies to identify grain intolerance and stressor severity
